ATHEN

Objective:

ATHĒN is a magazine dedicated to educating people, specifically Gen Z and Millenials, on how to be an intersectional feminist. The July 2021 issue mostly focuses on what the concept of intersectionality is and how to implement intersectionality in your life.

Conceptual Project

Concept:

ATHĒN has a bold, colorful, elegant aesthetic lightly inspired by pop art. This is to help attract and continually engage it’s younger audience.

Approach:

ATHĒN has a bold, elegant, and colorful design and layouts that consist of a strong use of image and eye-catching quotes.

Moodboard

Inspiration found in the moodboard for ATHĒN consists of works utilizing bright colors, color effects on images, bold and colorful callouts, as well as tall and elegant columns of text for body copy. These characteristics were utilized in the design of ATHĒN to make the magazine engaging and enticing to potential and current readers, establishing the hierarchy of callouts, enhancing legibility, and allowing the body copy to appear more reliable.
